We are
writing to
request your
support for the candidacy of Fredrick J. Prejean, Sr., who is standing
for the
Louisiana State House of Representatives, District # 44 in the city of
Lafayette. He is running as a Democrat in the October 20, 2007 Primary
Election.
Fred, as he is affectionately known to his friends and relatives, is
eminently
qualified for this position, in training, experience, and dedication to
public
service.
He is a
life
long resident of the district. It is where he attended elementary and
high
school, where he has earned a living, and raised a family. It is where,
over
the years, he is found with the residents of the district pursuing any
number
of public and private community betterment projects
It is his
affinity with the people and the culture of the region, his confidence
in and
appreciation for his God-given gifts, and his wish to serve and make a
difference that drive his decision to offer for election.
Fred has a
bachelor’s degree in accounting and has managed his own
accounting practice in
Lafayette for nearly thirty years. He has also complemented his
training with
additional related graduate and managerial courses, as well as a number
of
practical training experiences.
Fred has served as a member of the local planning authority for
the
Lafayette City/Parish Consolidated Government. His
knowledge of public matters goes beyond his voluntary community
improvement
work. At
the
state level, as
Undersecretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and
Fisheries, he was the chief financial officer for the department,
during
the administrations of two governors, and was responsible for managing
an $80
million budget.
Fred is a
public servant at heart. His early
career found him working with nonprofit community development
organizations
that provided social and economic assistance to those in need. His is
an inherent
talent that is programmed to serve and one that seeks measurable
results. He is
what one might refer to in the faith community as a “servant
leader”. Fred is fully aware that his passion to
serve must be tempered by a keen appreciation for the range of
interests and
views that compete for limited resources in the public marketplace. He
realizes
that to achieve results under these circumstances requires an informed
person
and one with good negotiating abilities.
Fred
Prejean
is the best candidate for Legislative District # 44 for all of the
above
reasons, and more. He will serve the people of the district, as he will
those
of the state, and we are asking you to support his candidacy.
